We plan to travel in Italy in October. We will be in the area of Siena with a car. We plan to travel to Rome. Should we leave the car in Siena and take the train to Rome? Or should we drive to Rome and drop the car in Rome?
Either way is fine. If you like driving I would do that. It's a nice drive. I would drop the car at the airport. If you decide to drop the car before Rome I would take it to Florence and catch the train from there.

bakobgyn,
The bus is also an option http://www.sena.it/index_e.htm
The bus is actually easier and move convenient from Siena. I personally would leave the car in Siena unless you have time to see the backroads or stop for lunch in some nice Tuscan town along the way. If just driving the highway, you'll see the same scenery from the bus and won't have to deal with traffic around Rome.
