Hello! My husband, 15 month old and I will be in Italy for 2 weeks next month. Almost everything is planned however I can't decide on the best route from Siena to Rome. We have a car and have 2 nights where we would like to stay somewhere around the half way mark. Would you recommend taking route SS205/A1 or the costal SS223/A12 route? Thank you!!

I would go down the coast, e.g. SS223 (E78) then to E80. Consider spending the night (or two) in Porto Santo Stefano.
The A1 is ok, and I would suggest Orvieto is you do that, but I like the coast and ocean better.

Thank you Gordon! We love the ocean and live at the beach. This was part of my struggle, we love the ocean but it is our first time in Italy, so part of me said to go the inland route. I looked up Porto Santo Stefano and it sounds amazing!!
