I have been trying to check on Trentalia for trains from Siena to Monterosso. I keep getting "no solutions". Am I doing something wrong with codes, etc. Any help would be appreciated.

there are several trains daily from siena to Monterosso. They usually involve a train change in Empoli and then again in Pisa. You probably looking too far in the future. the schedules are updated as I recall twice a year. Try to search past the update and you have problems. the work around is to pick a date in the next week or so that is the same day of the week as your desired travel day. search for that date and you'll get the schedule. the actual travel times will vary some but usually not by much. then if you wish to actually purchase online. wait until closer to your travel when the schedules are updated The other factor is that route will most likely be all on Regional trains. R trains usually are not listed more than 2 weeks out .

I just did the trip a few weeks ago. It takes about 3.5 hours change at Empoli, Pisa and La Spezia. We took a train from Siena about 10:20 arrived in Monterosso about 2:00.

There should be another earlier train which is non stop from Empoli to La Spezia. I took that one on Monday four weeks ago and I got to Riomaggiore before 1:00PM. R train all the way.

I am traveling in early August. I will try the trick of checking a date within the next couple of weeks. It looks like I can catch a train around 10 and arrive at 1 if I play my cards right. Thanks for the input.

Yes, that was the train I took. Please be advise that you only have 6 minute to change train in Empoli. It is a very small station. They do not have the train schedule board ( yellow light ) outside. So move quickly. Most the people changing the same train as you do. Just ask. PISA That is the direction.
