Help please as to quickest and easiest way to get from Sienna to Cinque by train or bus? Cheers. Lisa
Lisa, I'd absolutely travel by train on that route. The trip is about three hours, usually with one change in Empoli (depending on which train you choose to take). In many cases you'll be travelling by Regionale trains, so DON'T forget to validate! For example, there's a train departing Siena at 09:18, arriving La Spezia Centrale at 12:19 (time 3H:01M, one change in Empoli, current fare €13.10 PP). You didn't specify which C.T. town you'd be visiting, so I used La Spezia. That's the "gateway" to the C.T., so you can easily get from there to any of the five towns in a few minutes (the ride to Riomaggiore is only about 9 minutes). Happy travels!
Hi Ken, thank you for your help. We are staying in Monterosso so what will following your directions to there. Validating ticket seems like a big thing, we must remember to do this as it is our first time on trains in Italy. Cheers Lisa
Lisa, It doesn't take long to travel from Monterosso to La Spezia, so the travel method will be much the same. You can buy your tickets in the station in Monterosso, and validate in the yellow machines on the platform. As this is your first time riding the trains in Italy, you may find it very helpful to have a look at This Website and / or This Website. Cheers!
