Siena to Assisi by bus

I'm looking for information and schedules for bus service from Siena to Assisi (for Oct.). 2013 RS Italy book says to take bus over train but does not give any info on bus.

There is only 1 bus run a day shown on the Balfour-Eurolines-Sena website. It departs at 17:30 and arrives at 19:15. One bus change along the way. When working with the website you have to enter Umbria for the Region and S. Maria Degli Angeli as the destination. Assisi is up the hill from S. Maria Degli Angeli. You will have to take another local bus or taxi to get up the hill to Assisi. The train does take much longer. Also, there are 2-3 train changes along the way. Journey times vary from 3hrs 15min (Siena/Chiusi/Terontola/Assisi) to 5hrs (same stops. Wait times are much longer). But there are many more runs from which to choose. Finally, the Assisi train station is also in S. Maria Degli Angeli. It's not in Assisi. You still have to take a bus or taxi up the hill. But, don't miss Assisi. It's worth going there. Coincidently, this morning, I booked my wife and her daughter (mother/daughter trip) into the Hotel Berti. They will be also coming from Siena but they will have a rental car.

Following up, we did this bus ride 2 weeks ago! We bought our tickets the day prior and the seats were reserved. The bus leaves from the train station in Siena at 17:30, stops in Perugia (no change required)and arrives in front of the San Maria Degli Angeli church at 19:15. This is a quarter of a mile west of the train station. We had our hotel arrange a cab to meet us and we were glad we did. It was dark and the local buses don't run very often. We shared the cab with two very appreciative women who didn't realize where the bus would drop them and then split the 20 euro cab fare.

Larry, Thanks for the update. I was in Assisi in June and also arrived late (about 23:00) so I called the hotel and they sent a Taxi to pick me up. There is easy Bus transport between Assisi and the station (which is what I used on departure) but I wasn't sure it would be operating at that time of night, and also didn't want to wait for it.
