My husband and I are leaving Rome for Siena by train. It appears from the guide books that there are no taxis in Siena. Is that correct? Will we need to bus it and walk? Thanks.
There are taxis at the bus/train station in Sienna. We took one from the train station to our Tuscany castle hotel, a 50 euro trip. No problems. I will admit, there are only a few though.
Marlene, As you come out of the train station the taxi stand is to your right.
Thanks!!
I concur with the others...there is a taxi stand outside the Siena train station but the taxis come around infrequently. We arrived at 9pm and while we were only the second group in line, it took approximately a half hour to get a taxi.
Marlene, which Guidebooks are you using? As I recall, the ETBD Guidebooks contain information on Taxi's. ¶ There are DEFINITELY Taxi's in Siena, as I took one from the Hotel to the train station. I asked the Hotel to book it the night before departure, and it was waiting outside the door of the Hotel at the appointed time. Cheers!
You can also catch buses from the train station up the hill to Sienna. And yes, you will see taxi stands outside the walls of the city.
