We check out of Siena on a Sunday in late September to our 3 night stay in Cinque Terre. Can we take a very early morning train to stop in Pisa on our way to CT for 1 1/2- 2 hours to explore Pisa before heading to CT? If so, do we wheel our luggage around? If we can explore Pisa before CT, then I'm guessing we risk arriving in CT late morning/ early afternoon with massive crowds. Is thisomething to worry about or will it be ok? Is it worth the stop or is it better to take a train straight to CT? Also how do I find out if we will be in CT with cruise ship crowds? Sept 29-Oct 2. Thank you.
We did a similar route, but from Florence. We said, if we are that close to Pisa, we have to see the tower. We got to Pisa around 9:00 and left around 1:00. There is luggage check in the station. When we got to CT (Vernazza), the train and town were packed. But we had 2 more days to enjoy the area early before the crowds. We were there in early September, maybe the crowds are less in late September. It is spectacular either way....
