Siena or Montepulciano ?

We decided to cut our trip short in Florence down to 3 days and 2 nights to go and explore the countryside at the end of February 2017. Since we will be leaving Florence on a Sunday, should we stay in Siena on Sunday and will anything be open? Or is it a better experience to go down to Montepulciano to stay in an Agriturisimo for those 3 days and back track to visit Siena for a day and 2 days on the farmlands? So tough to decide if we should spend more time in Florence ( we are foodies and alcoholics ) or drive down and town hop the countryside. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I wouldn't bother with an agriturismo in winter especially for just a couple of nights.
I'd stay in a hotel, no matter which locality you decide to stay in.
If you decide to have a car, be aware that Siena also has a large ZTL (in place long before the one in Florence in fact). So make sure to choose hotels in the right spots.

Roberto is right, an agriturismo in February might not be the most enjoyable choice.

In Siena, friends and I have stayed at a hotel near one of the city gates that had garage parking onsite. If you look for accommodations like that, they will either be outside the ZTL; or the hotel you choose can register your car with the police
