Siena Italy palio contrada flags/scarves for purchase

Hi, we just returned from Florence and Siena and left our Palio contrada scarves in a cafe. Is there anyway we can purchase them online or in the U.S.? Our Florence Tuscany guide was invaluable and we happily followed many of the tips and recommendations...

I guess that just means you will have to return to Siena. When you get your replacement scarves can you get a Panforte for me? Leaving scarves in cafes is just like throwing coins over your shoulder at the Trevi.

Susan - I'm afraid my advice wasn't very good. After I posted, I realized you were talking about scarves and the reference I had seen was to Palio banners (presumably synonymous with flags). Then I went on the FlagsOnLine site and couldn't even find any banners/flags. The original reference came from www.initaly.com. Enter the site, click on "Italy at Your House" and there's a choice for Palio banners. You might e-mail both the FlagsOnLine people and the InItaly people and see if they have other suggestions. Good luck!

I believe I bought my Palio scarves (many years ago) at a store called Acquarello on Via delle Terme, 6 in Siena. (I save receipts!) I checked their website and it doesn't say anything about Palio scarves but I can just picture myself buying them there. You could perhaps write to them but it may be a hassle to pay for them and have them shipped over--IF they'd be willing to do that.

OK (HAHA) ask here on the board to see if anyone is going to be in Siena soon, maybe they'd shop for you, and mail the flag to you when they get home? A personal shopper.....in a way! That way you'd get what you want and it would certainly be less expensive to have it mailed from the US than from italy, and take less time. If you could find someone willing, isn't that a great solution?

I will be there next week. If I find your scarf, I will let you know! (Grinning)
