I need a recommendation on a hotel to stay in Siena. We would like to stay near the town centre. Price range would be around $300 or so a night.
Thank for any suggestions.
the grand continental is the best hotel in town in that price range.
The Palazzo Ravizza might fall into that range. It's magnificent with many rooms looking out over the Tuscan hills. A short walk from Il Campo, but Siena is made for walking. Very romantic too.
We got 2 nights at the Campo Regio Relias in Siena but couldn't get 4. Have now thought about leaving Siena and going towards Lucca and staying for the last 2 days before driving to Rome for the final 3 nights of our trip. Really want to see Lucca because our grandparents were from there. Any suggestions on places in that area. Perferably in Lucca? Thanks for any suggestions.
In Lucca, I love Alla Corte degli Angeli, right in the heart of the city. It's not opulent, but it's very nicely decorated and the breakfasts are the best I've had in any hotel in Italy. Lucca is a great, picturesque city and is well worth a visit.
In Lucca, we really enjoyed La Romea B&B. Right in the middle of the historic town.
We stayed at Hotel Villa Elda Siena last Sept. for about that price. It's a 10-15 minute walk out of the city center, but it's a beautiful, elegant, clean comfortable, roomy hotel with a 24 hour concierge, emenities and excellent breakfast. Gracious helpful hosts. It's in Rick's 2009 book--haven't bought the 2010 book so don't know if it's in there this year.
