We have the opportunity to be in Siena on July 1st, the day before the main race. How should we plan the day and is it too late to get a room for that night? We are traveling from Florence that date and need to be in Rome on the 2nd of July.
I recommend searching booking.com to see your room options

We were staying nearby and loved the day before the Palio in Siena! There were parades with residents in medieval dress and the scarves with the neighborhood symbols were sold everywhere. ( prices the same everywhere) Each member of our family chose a different one. That day was a highlight of our trip!
hi kasp7571
if you have this opportunity "book em dano" you will not regret it and have a fabulous day. look at hotels.com, booking.com stay close to city center where the event is so you can stroll around. ask if they have early check in or store luggage. enjoy

Years ago I was there a few days before Pallio and it was utterly mobbed. I still enjoyed my visit, but the innkeepers were packing people into every available nook & cranny that could be called a room. Of course I was on a student budget so that didn't help. It is wise that you're planning now!
