Sick in Rome on Christmas

Of course, this could only happen on Christmas Day, in a foreign city am sick and need to see a dr. Do I go to the hospital, assuming all dr’s offices are closed? Thanks.

I know this sounds crazy, but am feeling so awful, I didn’t think about contacting the air bnb hosts! Thanks, will do.

According to the 2020 RS Rome guide, it says: consider MEDline, a 24-hour private home-medical service: 06-808-0995, www.soccorso-medico.com. The cost to visit a hotel is 150 Euros. And the closest public hospital to Termini Station is Policlinico Umberto I on Via Lancisi. Metro: Policlininco. Feel better!

Thanks to those who responded. I ended up going to a travel clinic open 24/7, and it was free. Am not going to say the dr I saw there was thorough, but it’s nothing serious. Have a good day!

Depending upon which country you are from...and who your health coverage is from...
As an American citizen, my family’s coverage has 24/7 service we can call from anywhere in the world. Our coverage has a $65 (USD) telemedicine visit over my phone using FaceTime.

I used the telemedicine option once on our first trip to Iceland this past fall, when someone on the flight over stepped full weight on top of my foot causing a painful injury.

Maybe on the back of your medical insurance card is a phone number you can call to ask for your options?

Hope you feel better soon.

I am so glad you found what you needed! I know how much I hate feeling sick in my own home, I can imagine it feels worse away from home. If you start feeling stir-crazy or a little alone, just come back here to the forum. There are plenty of fellow travelers here ready to give you any support or encouragement we can.

Glad you were able to get help and that it is nothing serious. Merry Christmas in Rome - that is on my list! Have been in the fall twice but never at Christmas. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

What are the details of the clinic, WaterLoverUS? We're heading to Rome in April. Thanks!
