I'm not sure it's practical to go the Favignana Islands and Erice on the same day. Check on the frequency of the ferries; it might work.

I'd want more time in Palermo than part of one day. It's the largest city on the island and has a lot of worthwhile sights.

There are several attractive Baroque towns in southeastern Sicily. Ragusa and Noto are two of them. The others I've been to are Modica and Scicli.

Why not stay in Catania the last night..it's a great city, easy to walk around, great food, etc.
I've been a few times in the past few years and always loved being there.

Buongiorno from Sicily. I have been here for 2 weeks now (& will be here for another 6 weeks). I flew into Catania & stayed in Nicolosi for 3 nights to use that as a base to take the tour up Mt Etna (awesome…must do cable car & 4x4). Also did wine tasting & lunch (Emilio Sciacca winery on the north side of Etna). Nicolosi is not remarkable but is a good base for Mt Etna activities. Drove to Castellamare del Golfo & absolutely loved it! Definitely visit Scopello. Unfortunately the Zingaro Reserve is closed due to fires last year. Take a boat ride along the coast & enjoy the snorkeling. The owners of my Airbnb have a boat so I was on a private tour. Spectacular scenery. Castellamare is interesting to walk around, especially the waterfront & old town. Mozia & the salt flats are an interesting day trip. Erice was a disappointment for me. I read so much hype about it & expected more. It was filled with tourists and way too crowded for me. Hope this helps. Sicily is an amazing place!

Scopello is very close to Castellemarre de Golfo. Would not back track there after Palermo. We spent 2 weeks in Palermo last November. Many many sites there. Also found Erice was very touristy. It also was quite foggy and chilly.

Hello,
Erice is touristy but very nice, although I would take the bus there from Trapani, but there is parking at the entrance although limited pay parking. Stay in Catania your last night there is so much to see and do there! Plus, great restaurants!

Another endorsement here for Emilio Sciacca winery. View of Mt. Etna is great, the people are lovely, and wines are very good. If you are self-driving, it is a memorable stop.
