I have another question. The Rick Steves tour does not go to Vaslguarnera. It is in the province of Enna and almost in the center of the island. Has anyone been there either before or after their tour? What did you think and how did you get there?

I'm not familiar with the town. Per Rome2rio.com, you can take either a train or bus as far as Enna; then another bus (only 2 per day, so I bet that schedules won't be convenient) or a taxi from there to Vaslguarnera. Find specific bus schedules at www.saisautolinee.it and train schedules at www.trenitalia.com.
