Sicily trip advice

For a variety of reasons, my husband and I and are two low-twenty kids are planning a vacation to Sicily. Dates are fixed. We’ve been to Italy a few years ago - but our first trip to Sicily.

I welcome your thoughts on tentative schedule below. Anything you’d change or add? Thank you for your input.

Dec 24th

Arrive in Palermo and transfer to the hotel - 4 nights

We were in Palermo one year on NYE, and it seemed like the whole town was having a party in the main square. It was great fun. It wouldn’t surprise me if Taormina did something similar. Maybe the TI office or your hotel could help clue you in.

Looks like a wonderful schedule to me. It will be critical to book lunch and/or dinner meals well ahead of time on Dec. 25 & 26, and Dec. 31 & Jan 1. I spent the end of Dec - first week of Jan. in Sicily 2.5 years ago, and discovered that most restaurants on those days book up well ahead, and may just offer a mid-day meal with one seating.
