What is the best mode of transportation to travel from Palermo to Taormina? I know its about vv2.5 hrs by car by not sure if there is a train or bus?

I think the easiest is the train. The Taormina station is actually at Giardini Naxos, at the bottom of the hill where Taormina is. Taormina is along the Catania to Messina train line, so there are trains going in both directions. From Palermo, the fastest is probably to go to Messina first, change the train there (going south to Catania) and get off at Giardini Naxos about half way. I don't think there are direct buses from/to Palermo. You would need to go to Catania or Messina first (via bus or train) then catch a bus from there.
