Sicily transit info

We will be in Sicily this spring. We will be traveling around the island, starting and ending in Catania. We are using a car for a segment. I'll use Maps.me for navigation for driving.

The Rick Steves guide does a pretty good job providing options for getting place to place on public transportation. However, at this point it is at least 3 years old. Basically, there are trains and several bus companies. Often, I've used google maps for transit info and its done a pretty good job. I've been looking at it for Sicily, and it is not providing very good info for buses.

For years, I've been leery of Rome2Rio. I typically only use it to get a start. Recently, Rome2Rio seems to be fairly good. For example, when Honolulu transit systems were down, so was Google maps because it must get its info directly from the transit system. Rome2Rio did have the information we needed and it was very accurate. I also used Rome2Rio occasionally last year in Poland with favorable results. Curious if other travelers are finding Rome2Rio more helpful of late. I want to feel like I can trust it.

Just to get me started, the plan is to get from Catania airport to city center on the Alibus airport bus, which runs every 25 minutes.

After Catania we will go to Siracusa. It would seem the train and the bus take about the same amount of time. There may be more trains a day than buses. I think the bus, because of where our hotels are located, saves us some walking. I believe the bus company that goes to Siracusa is Etna Trasporti.

I speak very little Italian. I want to have a good idea of what I'm doing.

Are my transit plans, so far, sound? Experiences with Rome2Rio in Sicily? Is there a good central place for Sicily transit options?

And as an aside, I have several sources that are saying COVID tests for U.S. citizens to get home are in ample supply for about 20euro from pharmacies.
