Is there a train station at the airport, or is it necessary to bus into Palermo to Palermo Centrale?

To my surprise there is a train station at the airport. It is called "Punta Raisi" rather than "Palermo-xxxxx". You'll need to change trains at Palermo Centrale.
Trenitalia is really picky about spelling, so be sure you use Milazzo to check the schedule.

Depending on when your flight arrives, it might be faster to take the bus to Palermo Centrale and transfer to a train there. Be sure to consider both train and bus/train options.
