HI! I am looking to go to Sicily in either September and or October of this year. Sad to say, but Rick's tours are of coruse all booked. Does anyone have any thought on other tour companies? Thanks!
I don’t know if there’s openings, but Sarah Murdoch, a former RS tour guide, has her own company “Adventures with Sarah” and OAT - Overseas Adventure Travel both have Sicily tours.
If money isn't an issue - TAUCK is amazing and our favorite tour company, but it is pricey - but worth every cent.
We have been on OAT, Gate 1, Collette, Intrepid, and Rick Steves. They are all VERY different.
Overseas Adventure Travel (OAT) is worth considering. We used them for Africa last year, and now get lots of notices about their other tours. They have a Sicily tour, with some dates that start in August but are mostly September, and others that start in September and end in October. Most of their tours offer optional pre- or post-tour extension side trips. It looks like one has a mandatory post-trip, so you’d have to ask them about that. They’re happy to discuss everything over the phone, and ask about any extra discounts they offer. I had to look them up to see what Sicily options were open for this September, so here’s the Website I got: https://www.oattravel.com/trips/land-adventures/europe/sicilys-ancient-landscapes-and-timeless-traditions/2021/datesandprices?Step=0&AssociatedYears=2023%2c2024&SelectedYears=2023%2c2024&NoAirSelected=False&SelectedDepartureCity=JFK&SelectedOccupancy=Default&TripType=None&DepartureDate=1%2f1%2f0001+12%3a00%3a00+AM&IsDoubleOccupancySelected=True&IsTPPSelected=True&IsShip=False&SelectedTraveler=0
Thanks for the replies! Very helpful!
I went on Gate 1's 9 Day Classic Sicily tour last May.
We saw a lot and had a really good time. I got to Sicily early and and spent three days in Cefalu which was very relaxing before beginning the very busy tour. You can review the itinerary on their website.
