Sicily...securing reservations at cash only accomodations

We will be travelling to Sicily in April for 2 1/2 weeks. We have booked accomodations at 5 different properties: apartements, agritourismo, B&B, and apartment hotel. Except for the one property booked throught air bnb, the rest are all cash only for payment. I booked 2 through booking.com and the other 2 directly on the property website. It does seem a bit strange that they are holding the rooms for us without a security deposit (in addition to it being a bit of an inconvenience that we'll have to make mulitple trips to ATMS for cash) On our last trip to Sicily we were able to pay with cc...and one apartment required a bank transfer to hold the room for us. Anyone have experiences with these types of cash only accomodations not holding reservations? Julia

We had a cash only reservation in Catania which was handled professionally with no problem. I did reconfirm, as I always do.

Last May we stayed in a convent in Saint Angello near Sorrento with an unbelievably Mediterranean sea view that I reserved on Booking.com that was cash only. There was no problem no confusion, we paid in full after the 2nd night and they knew where all the atm are.
