Sicily's Red Prawns Restaurant(s)

Will be on Rick Steves tour in December 2026 and if you heard about "Red Prawns," do you have tips on restaurants on the tour stops where we might get this delicacy.

Coastal restaurants all over the island will have them depending on daily catch. They come from the waters off Mazara del Vallo; a good restaurant where I have had them is DA VITTORIO facing the beach in PortoPalo di Menfi. I have no idea where the tour will take you, however.. They are not difficult to find.

Sicily tour from 12/8 to 12/19. We will fly into Palermo.
I have searched for restaurants serving red prawns, but menu does not have listing red prawns. So have whatapp both restaurants.

I was told you can get them in practically any seafood restaurant in Sicily (depending on availability).

Italians always refer to them as "Gambero Rosso di Mazzara", so your bet bet is to go to Mazzara del Vallo.

Good luck!
