Hello travelers,
September 2016 I would like to plan a road trip in Sicily. I have driven in Italy in the past without difficulty. I thought to land in Palermo and stay 4 nights. Rent a car and drive to Trapani, then Marsala. Find a room for a night, continue drive to Ragusa, stay a night or two, then on to Syracuse and stay a night or two. Finally drive to Catania stay 4 or 5 nights. Then return to Connecticut. Is it reasonable to do day trips from Palermo and Catania and meander along the way? We will be two adventurous couples in our 60's we enjoy beach, food and sights. In the past we sightsee for a few days then relax beachside or poolside for a day then back to the sights and repeat this pattern We don't speak fluent Italian but can get by. Is another option to take buses and or train? We have up to 14 nights. So far we don't have any Must do's we are flexible.
Thank you
Lorie
