Sicily Recommendations - Cooking Class, Agriturismo, and Aeolian Islands

Hi all,

I am heading to Sicily in May, starting in Taormina, followed by Cefalu and Palermo. Hoping for a few recommendations from experienced travelers!

First: Has anyone done a good cooking class in Palermo?

Second: Does anyone have a recommendation for a good agriturismo I could stop at for lunch while driving, either between Taormina and Cefalu, or between Cefalu and Palermo?

And third: What would be the best Aeolian Island to visit for a day trip in May?

Thanks very much!

Check out Rosso Peperoncino in Taormina.

We were there in October 2010, and owner/chef Angelo Longo had just opened it. At that time he also had Ristorante Licchio's at the other end of Corso Umberto. We took a cooking class at Licchio's from Angelo, in which we first shopped at the Mercato Comunale for foodstuffs for our day of cooking. It was fantastic and hope Angelo is still doing the cooking classes.

Enjoy your planning!

We were on a culinary tour of Southern Italy and Sicily several years ago and had a wonderful experience with the charismatic chef Massimo in Taormina.
It's called "Sicilian Cooking Class E Market Tour." We visited the local market first and then enjoyed preparing our delightful and delicious lunch. We had a great time! www.siciliancookingclass.com. Email: [email protected]

For the best Arancini we had in Sicily we highly recommend "Da Cristina." Great place for an inexpensive quick meal in Taormina. A little hard to locate due to being off the beaten path, but so worth it. Our tour chef took us there and we were pleasantly surprised!
