Sicily or Greek Islands

Hi—I’m new here.
My husband and I are trying to decide between Sicily or Greek Islands for a week in October. We like beaches, good food & drink as well as some site seeing. We have been to Florence & Rome. We are in our early 50’s in pretty good shape.

Thanks! Can’t wait to hear your recommendations.

I have been to Santorini, Mykonos, Crete and Rhodes. I also spent 3 weeks on Sicily.
That question is tough. I loved all of the destinations.

Sicily is a huge island and you would only be able to see some of it. The food in Sicily I thought was better than Greece. However, in no way was the food in Greece bad. I think for a one week trip I would go to Greece. Pick two islands that are an easy ferry ride between them. I know they are the typical islands, but I loved Santorini and Mykonos. The beaches on Mykonos are beautiful.
Not sure if this is any help. Sorry if it's not.

Leave Sicily for another time when you have at least 2 weeks at your disposal. Mykonos and Santorini are good. Super touristy and popular but in October should be slow(er).

Honestly, a week is awfully short for either of those destinations. You'll need to fly or ferry between your choice of Greek islands, possibly passing through Athens in both directions. I know some islands have flights from elsewhere in Europe, but I don't know that you'll be able to find through tickets from Minneapolis with a change of planes in western Europe. With only one week, I'd be tempted to go to Crete and stay there the entire time. It's a large island with a lot of great sights to see. It definitely can fill more than a week, yet it is more manageable than Sicily in that amount of time.
