Sicily: Off The Beaten Path Ideas

We will be touring Sicily next fall and are interested in a day trip to the Vendicari Reserve. We will be staying in Ortigia by the end of September. We will not have a car and we will be relying on bus transportation. We have been to the Barogue towns of Noto, Ragusa and Modica previously. It sounds like Noto would be a good departure town to visit the reserve. It might be nice to do a guided tour with a local naturalist or tour group? It looks like the autumn season sees the arrival of gulls, Selducks, Flamingoes, Ciconiformes, and Cranes. The last time we saw Flamingoes was at the Camargue in 2013 (RS Loire to the South of France.) They were impressive, not to mention the wild horses as well!

We would appreciate any feedback on this interesting reserve. Thank you!
