Sicily October thru mid November

I will be in Sicily from end September, all October and half of November. Then on to Venice for 10 days. Just how should I pack? Am I shorts weather, long pants and sweaters? Please advise, I dont want to overpack but dont want to underpack either. Many thanks to all.

I always pack one of each of those items (ONE !) 1 pair of shorts, 1 pair of long pants (that roll up to capri length for warmer weater) and always 1 sweater. The sweater is a cardigan, not a pull over. Sweater worn on the plane rides as planes tend to be cold for me, and also use the sweater as a cover up in churches and at night when we go out to dinner. You don't need more than ONE of each of these clothing items. Make them black or grey and you will match everything else.

The short answer is layers. Don’t bother with shorts. Bring some rain gear. A water-repellent jacket can serve as your outermost layer.

You can also check a weather site; e.g., wunderground, to see what you can expect.

I imagine in that stretch you are going to get all of the above. Weather sites like wunderground will give you typical temps.

I agree with Rosalyn, and I would add a compact down jacket like one from Uniqlo that weighs very little, with a rain coat that's longer than the down jacket along with broken-in hiking boots & a few pair of smart wool socks. I've never regretted bringing along hiking boots, cobblestones are hard on feet. And I don't recall ever being as cold as when I was poorly prepared for the Veneto region in early December. You might like to check out 'coldest temps' rather than just averages, and add in wind chill. Sounds like a fabulous trip!! Enjoy.
