A group of us will be in Catania in April; we are hiring car service for 2 days and then on the third full day there, 2 people plan on going to Mt. Etna to take the chair lift and the 4 of us have a reservation for 13:30 tour and tasting at Benanti Winery. Is this doable considering that the 2 going to Mt. Etna will not be on a tour and will need to figure out transportation from Catania to Mt. Etna and then to the winery or should Mt. Etna be a full day for them?

Sorry, no comment on the timing, just wanted to say that we really enjoyed Benanti. The grounds are beautiful so save some time to wander around. Nice tasting.

We'll be there in April as well, mid-month, basing in Taormina. Haven't been to Sicily since our first trip abroad in 2010. At that time, we used Sicily Life Tours, and will use them again this time for an afternoon panoramic tour of Etna, as well as transport from the Taormina/Giardini train station to our AirBnB, then from there to the Catania airport.:

Not cheap, but logistics are such with suspect public transportation that a tour is preferred.
