Hi all- Trying to come up with a good itinerary for 8-10 days in Sicily. I will be traveling in Italy and will arrive by Ferry. Anyone know of a good way to go to Matera then Positano, Sorrento and then take a Ferry over to Sicily? For the itinerary I would like to head South, see Etna, and explore Palmero. Suggestions? thanks!!

Ferry from where to where? With a car or without? You can take the ferry from a few places in the mainland to both Palermo or Messina, but the shortest crossing is from Villa San Giovanni to Messina. Are you going to Matera first or to the Amalfi Coast or viceversa? How about flying to Palermo from Naples with Volotea Airlines? That would be much faster. There is no train service to Matera, you can take a bus from Salerno or from Naples. Sicily is huge - what are you interested in seeing? With a car or by public transportation?

you could start by checking out the RS tour itinerary for Sicily. I did this tour, and loved it, other than Palermo, which was not my favorite city. Highlights for me was Valley of Temples, Cefalu and Monreale.
