have 5 days w/car for sicily travel w/begin & end in palermo. need suggested schedule.

That ought to be fun. I have not been to much of Sicily (only from Palermo and points to the west), but if I had that much time in Sicily here is what I would do:
Day 1 - Palermo
Day 2 - Drive to Segesta (greek ruins near Trapani), then drive to Erice (amazing mountaintop town with castle). Erice is magical at twilight. Sleep in Erice.
Day 3 - Drive to Cefalu. Lunch and sightsee there. Continue driving to Taormina. Sleep in Taormina nights 3 and 4.
Day 4 - Climb Mt. Etna and explore Taormina.
Day 5 - Drive to Palermo (time permitting, drive into Catania and sightsee there before going to Palermo).
I don't know what time you fly/train into/out of Palermo, so that could change things.
