It depends on what you are looking for, but we really enjoyed our visit to Filippo Grasso. It's family run and small. They could not have been more gracious. The son is the wine maker and the daughter does the marketing. We didn't know if we'd be able to get a ride and they offered to pick us up! If you bring an empty wine bottle they will fill it for 2 euro with table red. I thought the wines were good and well priced. Such fond memories of Filippo Grasso.
We also tasted at Benanti. Its a family, I believe, and much more "slick". Yet we had a wonderful tour and tasting with lots of little nibbles. The vineyards and the gardens were lovely.
Donnafugatta was right next to where we were staying so we walked over to buy a bottle of wine and had a nice tasting the next day. The tour and tasting was very well done and we enjoyed the wine and the conversation.
All of the above are in the Mt. Etna area. Grasso and Donnafuggata near Randazzo and Benati by Zafferana.
