Sicily - "Godfather Private Tour": Marco is an outstanding Prestelli Tour guide.

Exceeded high expectations. My wife is a Godfather fan (actually I think she is more of an Al Pacino fan), so I had reserved the tour about a year in advance of our trip, and specifically requested Marco as our tour guide. We had the "Godfather Private Tour in Savoca and Forza d'Agro" tour with the "wine option".

Marco delivered: he worked hard to make our tour special. He has deep knowledge of the Godfather series and related trivia. Moreover, he has clearly developed close relations with people in the local community - including with police officers and with people involved with the movie series.

Marco picked us up in front of our hotel (in Taormina) with a bottle of water for each of us and freshly-picked organic pears and nectarines from his garden. (We ate the fruit a few days later - delicious!)

The visits to Savoca and Forza d'Agro were wonderful. In between we stopped for wine and food tasting. The tasting took place on the covered open-air second floor of a countryside restaurant. The restaurant was open just for us, and our table looked out on a dreamy view of the sea, flanked by Savola and Forza d'Agro on either side. The wine consisted of copious quantities of a local white (made by the family who owned the restaurant) and a local red. The food was good quantities of diverse and delicious local foods, including sausages, fried bread (awesome), regular bread, olives, and best-ever home-dried tomatoes in olive oil. The hostess explained to us how she picked the tomatoes from her garden and then left them in the sun to dry for two weeks. We were so sated that we cancelled our later dinner reservations.

After five hours Marco had us back in Taormina. My wife was very satisfied, so thus was I. Prestelli Tours and Marco made it a truly memorable experience.

Thanks!

I'd be very interested in reading more about the "Godfather" part of the tour. Were you taken to locations from the films, etc.?

crgraham32: Yes, we were taken to Savoca and Forza d'Agro. Savoca is where Bar Vitelli is located, and the church where Michael Corleone marries his Sicilian wife. You are able to go in the bar and in the church. Forza d'Agro is where the portion of the movie (I can't remember which one) where a young Vito Corleone is smuggled out in a basket on a donkey as men search for him; it is also where the older Michael Corleone shows his boyhood home to his ex-wife (played by Diane Keaton) in Godfather III.

These two villages are the film locations near Taormina.
