Sicily for the First Time!

I'm planning a two week trip to Sicily this summer (my first time in Sicily). I'm not sure where to start or what cities to see or the best cites to stay. I'm also thinking of starting out in Malta for 3 days and taking a ferry to Sicily. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
