Sicily drought impacting tourism?

We are planning to visit Sicily in October and wonder if the drought will impact our travel through Sicily. Any recent experiences, good or bad?

The drought was severe in 2024. We are in 2025 now and this past winter it was very wet, with torrential rains. What the situation will be in October we don't know, it's 3 months away.

We went to Sicily in late September 2018 during a prolonged drought. The same question was asked on the forum then. There was no impact on our travel.

That being said, if there are any restrictions your hotel or lodging will let you know about them. We reduced the length of our showers as that’s about all you can do to help unless you want to cancel your trip.

We too were in Sicily in 2018, albeit in late May and it had zero impact on our trip although we were very aware of it. I didn’t know there was a drought this season in Sicily, due to, as Roberto has mentioned, the very wet winter. Yes, it’s been a hot summer, but, hot summers do not a drought make. Just go and enjoy. You’ll know well in advance if there will be restrictions.
