Sicily-Distances

How far away are Piazza Armerina and Agrigento.? I am trying to decide whether to pick one base for 3 nights to tour both places or move hotels. Any other Sicily tips appreciated. Am doing 3 nights in Palermo, 2 nights in Trapani, 4 in the Baroque towns, 2 in Syracuse, then a few in Taormina or Etna or Catania. Thanks for your help.

Google maps is one source of info (use it just like you would to check distances and directions at home), Michelin is another. A hard paper map never fails either.

The google map times are good. I left Agrigento in the morning for Piazza armerina, which is simply amazing btw, and when done went for my 3 nights sleep close to Syracusa. I did the baroque cities from there and though these 3 cities are nice, we weren't wowed by them. 4 nights i think is too many.
Have you thought of the eolian islands? Climbing the Stromboli, an active vulcano, is for us the highlight of that hole trip. Being on top of an active vulcano, seeing the explosions, feeling them, smelling them is absolutly unique. You have to be in decent shape to climb, but the average person will do no problems. Climbing is close to 3 hours and it's 1:30 to go back down.
If this is of interest for you i will gladly give more details.
So basically, i would cut my time in the baroque region, add a day in Syracusa and put those extra days for a visit of Lipari, vulcano and Stromboli.
Make sure to see Segesta and the beautiful medieval town of Erice when in Trapani(which you are probably aware)
