For a first trip to Sicily with 10 days are there any suggestions for where to go. We are flying in and out of Palermo.
Thanks for any suggestions.

Here is a link to a web site that I used when preparing for my trip to
Sicily. There are hundreds of links on this site with all kinds of into on anything you need to know about Sicliy.
Best of Sicily
Sicily has lots of fabulous sights. You certainly can't cover them all. Although most are accessible by public transportation, that will be considerably slower than having a rental car. How do you plan to travel around the island?
You need to take a look at a guidebook or two and see what sounds appealing: beaches, ancient ruins, churches, small Baroque towns, Mt. Etna? Palermo itself has a wealth of beautiful chuches and other religious sites. But it's a big, bustling city, and it might not be the ideal first stop for you. Have you ever been to Naples?
And who is "we"? Two adults? Children?
Are you locked into flying into and out of Palermo? It's easier to see more places in a short time if you fly into Catania and out of Palermo or vice versa.
Here's my very detailed trip report from two years ago, which should give you some ideas: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/sicily-palermo-caltanisetta-siracusa-taormina
thank you Harold for your itinerary. having read the other posts I'm thinking of skipping Palermo at the beginning and heading straight to the beach and Monreale. and then following your itinerary except heating back to Palermo for the last 2 days. We might skip Villa Romana if it looks like to tight a schedule.
thanks again
Use Taormina as a base. Awesome town and lots of activites in the Shadow of Etna
