I understand that the train station in Taormina (Giardino) is not right in town and that additional transportation is required. How much does the additional transportation cost? Would it be more convenient to take the bus from Catania? Second, is there any luggage storage in Taormina, as we are planning to continue on that night to sleep in Milazzo so that we can catch a morning hydrofoil to stromboli. Thanks Glen
1. cheap...couple of dollars for a couple of mile trip 2 yes, we took the bus and it drops you off right in town, not down below. Check to see hbow long the bus takes vs the train. 3. don't know. suggest you Google it, or pick up a LonelyPlanet guidebook for Sicily. It is a great source of info! Also post this same question on Trip Advisor. There are some excellent specalists that know this area from top to bottom. Glen, slow down, you are moving too fast thru-out Sicily. Stop at LEAST two nites, in each place and enjoy.. It is absolutely wonderful...especially in Spring.
I take the bus to Taormina (the Catania bus station is separate from the ticket office by about a half-block). I've never stored luggage there so I can't address that, but the Lonely Planet guidebook can probably help. You may want to check bus and ferry schedules from Taormina to Milazzo to see if you can stay the night in Taormina and still catch a morning (late morning) ferry to Stromboli.
Please, please stay in Taormina for at least one night! We went for a week two years ago and stayed ten days! Best trip of my life! www.holidaysinsicily.uk.com
