Sicily beach town without a car

Ciao!

We will be on the RS Sicily tour next month. When we end in Catania, we have another 6 days in Sicily. We plan to take the train from Catania to Palermo for an exciting meet up with a couple of people I believe are my distant relatives.

I then want to travel from Palermo to Partinico where my family history began. It looks like we can take the train.

Question: Is it easy to get around in a town like Partinico without a car? Is there something similar to Uber? Or Does anyone have a recommendation for a driver service?

We also want to spend a couple days at a beach to end our trip before going back to Palermo to fly out. Recommendations for beaches near Partinico or Palermo that we can get to without a car? I’ve heard the taxis are awful and not recommended.

Basically we are hoping our last week in Sicily can be fabulous without renting a car. Possible?

Thanks for your advice!

Look at Cefalu. It’s a short train ride from Palermo. It has a nice historucal center and a beach.

It really depends on where your search takes you. What if you end up needing to go into the country? Could you hire a cab? How big is Partinico? How long will you be there? Perhaps your distant cousins can drive you? So, no set answer.

I doubt a town like Partinico has taxi service. There should be Intercity bus service between Partinico and other towns but not within Partinico.
Partinico is not a large town, but if you arrive with luggage you need someone to drive you to your accommodation. The train station is outside of the town. Once you are settled and you don’t mind walking, Partinico is about 2 miles x 2 miles, so you can walk from one end of town to the other in just over half hour.
