Hi
I would appreciate any and all suggestions for accomodations in Sicily.
Thank you
Nick
Nick-since you don't give an idea of where you want to be, I'll tell you where we stayed this past summer.
Palermo - Hotel Principe di Villafranca - very nice boutique hotel with friendly staff, in the "new" city part of town but we walked all over.
Near Marsala - in Trapani - a small B&B - Baglio Spano. Used this as a base to see Erice, Segestra and Selinunte.
Between Catania & Taormina - I couldn't decide what I wanted to see so we stayed in the small town of Acireale at a great family run B&B - Palazzo Giovanni. Best hosts of the entire trip, great view of Mt. Etna, great mid point to see Siracusa, Mt. Etna, Taormina.
Loved sicily - also - check out the Fodors.com website as their "talk" section has lots more info about Sicliy than this site.
Hi Nick, my friend and I stayed at an agriturisimo outside of Siracusa. It is called Il Limoneto (you need a car)and, I believe it is a short drive from Siracusa. It is a lemon farm and the rooms are very sweet, clean, and breakfasts were Sicilian breakfasts: hard-boiled eggs, bread, cheese, yogurt, etc. but the dinners we ate were absolutely delicious. Our room was #8 and looked out to the lemon trees all around. Adelina and her husband are an older couple and very nice to talk with and their daughter is very helpful. (She even drove us into Siracusa one day as we didn't have a car.) From Siracusa it is a short walk to Ortigia, a must-see 16th century village. I would stay there again on a future trip as we had a very memorable experience.
