Sicily

Please recommend your favorite things to do along the east coast of Sicily?

We will be staying in Taormina and Ortigia?

Cannoli class? Cooking Class? A specific wine tour? Aeolian Islands?

Thank you

We took a Culinary Tour to Southern Italy and Sicily in 2014. One of our favorite cooking classes was in Taormina. We did a market tour and cooking class with Chef Massimo. We made food bought at the market. We learned about the fish in the area, we made fish, pasta, Caponata and dessert. Chef Massimo is engaging and is a great storyteller about his Sicillian roots. It was a fun 3+ hours.

We also visited a winery near Mt. Etna. I don't have the name of the winery at my fingertips right now. The Sicilian wines are lovely. We are headed back to Sicily next fall. Hope to hear about more opportunities as well. We are also booked for the Aeolian Islands.

In addition to Ortygia itself, I like the Baroque villages in the southeast (Ragusa, Noto, Modica and Scicli) but don't know whether they count as "along the east coast". Catania has a lively food market as well as a nice historic district. I missed the WWII museum, but others have liked it.
