We will be in Taormina, Sicily for the month of December. Does anyone have recommendations on nice, economical apartments or other lodging? We will be attending the Babilonia school there learning Italian. Has anyone attended who is 50+ years? Thanks, Dee
Hi Dee, We rented a one bedroom in Taormina thru Airbnb. Our apartment was well located, as advertised and our landlord was great. We rented Panoramic Taormina Centre from Claudio. He was very resposnive to work with, the apt. was perfect for 2, the kitchen had lots of equipment and there were staples left behind from previous guests that we were invited to use, son Ernesto had a good command of English and was a great reference person. We were gifted with incredibly tasty Cannoli from Cafe Amore, to die for! We stayed 4 nights and wished we had stayed longer. Very convenient to main street and good views from balcony and bedroom window. The queen sized bed was very comfortable and the apartment was spotless. If you have any special concerns or requests be sure to voice them as Claudio went out of his way to help us with transportation issues. We hope to return to Taormina and would definitely stay in the same apt. Airbnb was also great to work with. Great support staff. Enjoy Taormina.
I JUST got back from three weeks in Sicily. I used: legendofsicily.com to rent an apartment. We loved it, and LOVED Claudio who has many apartments in his booking list. You will probably get a good deal from him, since December is not high season. He's a really nice guy, and couldn't have been nicer showing us around the town and making sure we had everything he needed. I like knowing someone "on the ground" in the city I rent in, and I've rented apartments all over Europe. If you want more info, PM me. I still have a phone number for him.
