We are taking a cruise mid October that stops in palermo and Tunis tunisia.Both stops allow only 8 hours for sightseeing. Can anyone give me some suggestions as to the best attractions to visit.It is harder to find info on these two destinations than other areas of Europe. Thank you Steve in Miami

Steve - here is a site I used for my planning in Sicily. There is a lot of info about Palermo.
Lots of things to see and I loved just wandering around the city. Best of Sicily...

I suggest you try to spend your time in a smallish geographic area rather than running from one end of the city to the other. The Norman Palace (with the Palatine Chapel) is a good choice for art and history. It's in the historic center of Palermo. The port area has a couple of great gardens, one the Villa Giulia and the other the Orto Botanico, right next to each other. I'm sure you'll get helpful responses if you say what you are interested in seeing or doing - "best" for me might not mean much to someone else.
