Hello, Yes, our first experience with AirBnb was in SIcily. It worked out very well. We stayed in Taormina. Our host was very helpful and the apt. was just as in photos. AirBnb was very good pre and post trip as well. I believe that no matter where you are booking, you are still dealing with the AirBnB office in San Francisco. Hope that this helps. Sherry

Hi Sherry I am also travelling alone in october to italy and sicily. Air bnb has tons of places , just read the reviews first. In palermo there are also very reasonable hotels to stay in. Air bnb is nice because the hosts are very helpful :)
