Sicilian farm or villa ?

First time to Sicily Oct/07.Getting no where fast for searches for a family owned farm or villa to stay for two weeks. So many confusing variables.Location? ?Central location or split stay to two locations? Husband and wife that do not prefer hotels or a upscale villa.Like to mingle with the locals not tourists. HELP!

A. Split your time up.......up to 3 different places....but at least 2.

B. We have stayed in 3 agritourisimos...

On the NW side we stayed at an agritourisimo near Trani (Baglio Costa di Mandorla),in a little town called Pacheo. The Agri backed up to a main street but in back it was all olive groves with a pool, etc. Rooms were good........the one we stayed in was self contained.

The Agri we loved the best was up in the North, near the Madronie mtns(Il Vecchio Frantoio). It was up in the hills, with great access to the frewway. Food, owners, staff, guests, view, were all fantastic.

The 3rd agri was in the So.,in the country outside of Syracuse. Il Limoneto was a little more rustic, but we got to spend wonderful time with the owners and the staff, and got to meet some great people.

None of these places are upscale, but the home cooking at the Frantorio and Limoneto were not to be missed. All were great places to base our tours.

Let me know if you would like more info.

This sounds great. Lot's of questions. Consider this. We arrive in Rome on 11/14 and have to leave Rome on 11/4.With this amount of time how would you tour Scicly? Did you have a car? Do you have contact info for the places you stayed at? Not sure I like the idea of staying at 3 places,2 sounds more like it. How long ago and how long were you there? And yes more info would be great.Do not speak Italian so were your hosts helpful in getting around? In general the negatives? Thank you for your feedback?
