Shuttle To/From Florence Airport to SMN Novella Train Station

My brother will be traveling to and from the Florence airport (Peretola) with a 27" inch luggage bag (includes the wheels). Where is the luggage storage on the bus? If there are luggage racks on the airport shuttle bus - will this size luggage fit? This is the only public transportation that he'll be taking with this large luggage bag in his Italy travels and I wanted to be sure that he'll be ok with taking the airport shuttle service with this size bag.

It's a regular bus with a rack inside similar to most airport shuttles in America.
It's a large suitcase but it will fit.

But the Volainbus will take you to the station only. Where is your brother's final destination? If his hotel is not at the station he'll need a taxi from the station, in which case it would make sense to take the taxi from the airport directly. The airport is close and the taxi ride is a flat 22€+baggage fee (1 or 2€ per piece). No tips to Italian taxi drivers please.

Roberto - great feedback, thank you! My brother will be traveling with 3 other family members, their flight arrives around 11am. I'll be meeting them later that day as I'll be traveling from Rome by train. It makes sense for them all to take a taxi from the airport to SMN Firenza station where they can check their bags at Left Luggage. We're all staying in an apartment North of Florence (2 km from the train station). Our apartment check-in is not until 4pm.

The Volainbus is 6 euro per person (or more, not sure if there have been recent increases).
Therefore 6 x 4 persons=24 euro, which is more than the taxi ride to anywhere in the city center, including the station.
See if the apartment landlord allows you to leave luggage somewhere before check-in time. Maybe he can accommodate your needs.

North, or any other cardinal direction, is a concept that we Italians don't use except for sailors for navigation in the high seas. What's the address of the apartment? Get used to get directions in terms of right, left, straight, street names, district names, corners landmarks. N, S, W, E would confuse the hell of every Florentine, especially if it's a cloudy day and they can't see the sun.

Roberto, I love your Florentine perspective! The apartment is on Via Melchiorre Gioia...a short 2-3 minute walk from Villa Fabbricotti. If the owner will allow us to store our luggage at the apartment upon arrival, do you think that the 22€ taxi flat rate would include the approximate 2km distance beyond the city center?

If he goes by the meter, You should pay less than the flat fare. Via Gioia is closer to the airport than the city center.

So, assuming no traffic, I would say 15€ Fare + 1€ for each bag + 1€ for the fourth passenger. The bag fee and 4th pax fee applies to the flat fare too, so you would pay at least 5€ less. If you are charged more, one more reason why Italian taxis should be driven out of business by Uber. And give NO TIP to taxi drivers!! Not even a cent.
