My girlfriend and I are staying at the Hotel Dona Palace in Venice in a couple of weeks. We are flying into Rome for the first leg of our trip and flying out of Venice to return home. Our flight from Venice leaves at 6:55am Saturday, meaning we probably need to be at the airport by 5am the latest. Our flights can't be changed. Are the water taxis operating at such an early time in the morning? What would be the most feasible way to get to the airport at very early in the morning? Thanks.

You can walk to the San Marco stop for the Alilaguna shuttle boat. It leaves at 03:40 and arrives at Marco Polo at 05:00. Current fare is I believe 15 euro. www.alilaguna.it Linea Blu

From where you will be located, the Alilaguna boat will be your best bet. Best fare as well. The earliest bus departs the Piazzale Roma as 4:40 but you would need to take the night vaporetto to get there on time. The night vaporetto comes through your area about 3:40. Again, the Alilaguna boat is much better for this time of morning. Yes, your hotel can arrange a water taxi to be at or near your hotel, the fare is at least 90E and can reach 120E for the trip to the airport. The water taxis are private taxis and do specialize in the very early morning departures. Early flights out of Marco Polo are quite common.
