Shuttle Service from airport

Hello my husband and I are looking to find some affordable shuttle service from the airport in Rome to our hotel in the Vatican area. I know we will be jet lagged and tired so, even though it's cheaper, we don't want to take the train. I found a shuttle service online for 2 people at 50usd but was wondering if anyone knew of any place more affordable and/or credible. Thanks for any feedback in advance

Another vote for romecabs.com, Stefano replies quickly and we've used them multiple times.

Have used romecabs.com (a private car service) a number of times and have always been very pleased. We also use them to get back to the airport for early morning flights. Can't say enough good things about them. TC

I can recommend this one:
http://www.romalimousinecarservice.com/online/en/prezzi Of course, you can also just take a cab from the taxi stand. If you give us a more specific location on the hotel then we could tell you what the fare for the cab should be, since fixed rates are in effect from the airport to many areas of the city.

Romecabs.com gets the highest praise on TA and also other sites. It will be a private car and driver who will wait for you, and take you directly to the hotel. I use them all the time and have had nothing but wonderful experiences with them. Donna

We just returned from Rome this weekend and had very good experience with romeairporttransportation.com. They were early picking us up from our apartment, very professional, couldn't have been better. Set everything up by email. The price you're being quoted sounds fair.

Personally I would just take a taxi. That way you do not have to worry about connecting with your driver especially if the plane is late or you are early. The fare is fixed at 48E which is roughly $60 at today' exchange rate. Anything more affordable than you $50 quote would have to be train or bus.

If it's a true shuttle service then you'll be in a van or on a small bus with a bunch of other people. You may be the first to be dropped off or you may be the last to be dropped off. If you take a taxi and you're outside the fixed price zone then you'll pay what's on the meter. Depending on where your hotel is in relation to the Vatican this is probably what will happen if you take a cab.
You can use worldtaximeter.com to find out what the fare will be if you're outside the walls and wish to take a taxi. Donna

I used a limo/shuttle service a few years back. I just did a Google search and found a few different options, did a comparison and picked one. I can tell you it's a joy to have the driver waiting for you outside customs with your name on a sign, direct you to his car, load your luggage and take you right to your hotel. Our driver even acted as a mini tour guide pointing out sights along the way! I arranged the pick up as well. The driver was waiting for us outside the hotel at the appointed time and took us directly to our terminal. Waiting outside for a taxi, not for me! The cost was the same as a taxi and a lot less hassle. Go with one of the recommendations you got above, you won't be disappointed.
