Shuttle from Rome FCO to Hotel Lancelot

October 10, 2023 UPDATE to my question (below) I previously posted.

We booked a transfer from Rome FCO airport to our hotel. We stayed at Hotel Lancelot near the Colosseum. It is one of RS contracted hotels.

We hired ROME Airport Transfers Italy. The cost was 69€ for the 2 of us and 3 carry-on suitcases.

The driver had checked on our flight arrival and was waiting for us. He drove an older Mercedes sedan. It was ok, but not the cleanest as we expected. On the way to the hotel he stopped for gas. His driving was all over the place, but we got to our hotel in one piece.

For the return trip to the airport, we had the hotel call for a taxi. It was only 50€ and a much nicer ride. In Rome ask your taxi drivers how much the ride will be before you get in the taxi and ride with the meter on. There were a number of taxi drivers taking advantage of tourists that were charging A LOT more and did not turn on the meter.

Thanks again for everyone’s suggestions.
BTW, the taxis in London were wonderful!

We are going on RS 7 Day Rome tour and staying at the Hotel Lancelot near the Colosseum. The hotel charges 50€+. Does anyone know of shuttle services or best ways to/from the hotel? Thanks!

A taxi will cost approximately that much as well. Well worth the money to be delivered to the door of your hotel and avoid the subway with luggage.

Airport to city center is a fixed/flat rate fare. 50 euro is a good price.

Otherwise you may take the Leonardo Express train to Roma Termini, then the metro to Colosseo, then walk from the metro. The Leonardo Express is 14 euro per person, then you will need to buy metro tickets from the machine. You might save a few euro, but a taxi/car transfer will be easier

If intent upon knocking a few euros off the 50€ cab fee and don't mind a "two seat" journey, consider this option posted on the hotel's website:

https://www.lancelothotel.com/location/

"Bus | 50 min |Several bus companies that operate between Fiumicino and Termini station,( Via Marsala ) TERRAVISION, SCHIAFFINI, ATRAL, SIT - rates from 5.00 € to 6.00 €
From both train stations you may then take a white metered taxi from the taxi stand to the Hotel for no more than 15.00/20.00 € (inclusive of luggage). Make sure the meter is switched on. If you are uncertain about the fare come into the Hotel and one of our staff will assist you."

We have used the airport coaches in the past and they worked just fine for us: clean and comfortable. Larger luggage goes underneath the bus. Here are the options:

We bought tickets at a kiosk at the airport but note that a couple of the companies allow you to buy on board the bus; you need to pay in euros.

Maybe you could share the shuttle with someone else from your tour, if you are arriving at about the same time.
