Our cruise ends May 1, 2027 in Civitavecchia near Rome. We have seen Rome before and after a two week cruise, we just want to fly home. Other than by taxi, is anyone aware of a shuttle (bus or train) directly connecting Rome’s cruise port with Rome’s airport?
There is train service, although you still need to get from the ship to the station. You will need to do some bag handling and probably a train transfer.
A quick glance at “Get your guide” shows multiple companies offering shuttle services from the ship to the airport.
Finally, your cruise line will probably offer transfers as well.
Your cruise line will offer to transfer you from ship to airport, and I would take them up on it!! That's what we did.
Hi, Giangilberto from Milan, well, I completely agree with the other users. With two weeks of travel to carry, my advice is to avoid public transportation to get to Fiumicino Airport. The total journey includes a bus from the cruise terminal to Civitavecchia train station and then a train with another change at Roma Ostiense station, for a total travel time of about two hours and ten minutes.
Below, however, are all the useful links so you can still do so if you decide to use public transportation. There's a service called Civitavecchia Portlink that connects the cruise terminal to Civitavecchia station for €6.00. From there you can get a train to the airport.
On Portlink, luggage travels free of charge with no size restrictions.
The Portlink ticket is not purchased separately. You can book it on Trenitalia, choosing "Civitavecchia Porto" as the departure station, and the bus is included in the ticket.
