Shuttle bus or Alilaguna to Venice?

Originally, I thought I would take the Alilaguna boat to San Zaccaria to hotel after arriving by air. Might it be better to take the shuttle bus and then the Grand Canal #1 vaporetto with Rick's podcast? Probably a real nitpick question, but any pros and cons would be appreciated. Leaving Venice by train to Florence after 2 days.

Definitely the shuttle bus we took the Alilaguna last time we were there and thought we would never get to Venice they are extremely slow.

It is six of one and half a dozen of another. Alilaguna will take about 20 minutes longer. You will need to walk to the docks at the airport, about 5-10 minutes. Not a big deal. On the plus side, you will not have to tranfer to another transport. You'll stop in Murano and the Lido on the way and get a taste of the lagoon. Also a great intro to Venice as the boat goes from the Lido to the San Zaccaria stop. Lovely view of the mouth of the Grand Canal. Bus/vaporetto is faster. No walk at airport, board in front of terminal. Have to ransfer at Piazzale Roma to the vaporetto. Plus the ride down the Grand Canal is also a nice intro to Venice. You might be a bit jet lagged and worrying about your luggage to get the full benefit of the podcast though. The vaporettos can be crowded depending on when you arrive.
