My family of 5 (hubby plus 3 kids, all teenagers) will be arriving in Milan about 9am and we are contemplating on whether we should take a train to Turin to see the Shroud. We would spend the night in Turin, see Shroud in the morning and then head via train to Monterosso. The other option is to just stay in Milan and 'ease' into our trip (first time to Italy and we will be traveling for 2 weeks- CT, Florence, Rome and Venice). Thoughts on whether this is too out of the way and too much to try and make happen, especially after just arriving? (from my limited assessment of the train schedules it looks like it may take 2 trains and about 4 hours to get there??)
Will you be there between April 19 and June 24? That appears to be the only time you can see it, per this site:

You don't say where you're flying in from, so it's hard to know what impact jet lag might have on you.
oops! we will be arriving on June 9th- traveling from Texas :)
It's definitely feasible, with plenty of train departures to choose from, as long as you get Shroud reservations in advance. Some departures from Milano Centrale station only take one hour to Torino and others 1.5 hours, so that's the main difference that day, after you have traveled into the city by Malpensa Express.
